Restoring 40 acres of marginal paddy land through soil regeneration and a 64-farmer cooperative.
Decades of monoculture and chemical input have left the paddy soils of Rangpur thin, acidic, and dependent on ever-increasing fertilizer. The 64 families in this cooperative have made the decision, together, to step off that treadmill.
Through cover cropping, compost, and seasonal rotation with legumes, the land is recovering. Yields dipped in year one — as expected — but soil organic matter has nearly doubled, and the second harvest is exceeding the old baseline without synthetic input.
Funds support seed, training, shared composting infrastructure, and a guaranteed floor price during the transition years.
